Sound Of Music

February 19 - 24, 2019

The hills come alive with the Sound Of Music at Anchorage's Atwood Hall during a locally produced revival of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic this winter. The original Broadway production opened on the Great White Way in 1959, garnering five Tony Awards for its timeless score, which includes classic songs Do-Re-Mi, Sixteen Going On Seventeen, My Favorite Things and of course, the titular theme. Its status as pop culture classic was further solidified with the release of the 1965 film featuring the legendary Julie Andrews as free-spirited heroine Maria.

If someone mentions the word opera, you probably think Italy, maybe Germany but... Texas?! Well The Texas Tenors are changing that perception all right. Combining elements of opera, country music and pop, the songs you can expect to hear at a Texas Tenors concert range from Unchained Melody to Nessun Dorma to My Way.

Chicago indie-rockers OK Go first found fame with the viral success of their 'Here It Goes Again' video, which saw the band performing a brilliantly inventive dance routine on treadmills. Ever since then, their videos and music have maintained this quirky energy and their output has been consistently innovative, unique and fun.

Monty Python's Spamalot

May 7 - 12, 2019

It's the smash hit musical Spamalot, telling the tale of King Arthur's quest to find the holy grail, only a lot funnier and sillier than what they say in the history books. Irreverent, surreal and ridiculous in only the way Monty Python can be, Arthur's adventure sees him recruiting a rag-tag bunch of Knights and taking on many challenges, including sating a murderous rabbit, pleasing mysterious knights pre-occupied with shrubberies, and battling an adversary more interested in winning than the location of his limbs, and much more! Add some hilarious songs to the mixture and you've got yourself a musical, because these knights of the round table will dance whenever they're able!
